TRAVEL JOURNAL: MASAHIRO-san from SADO ISLANDS
ISHIKAWA PREFECTURE
Ishikawa is a prefecture on the Japanese island of Honshu. It is famous for its natural environment and culture, with a wide variety of sightseeing spots. It is also renowned for its fresh seafood, such as the crabs caught in the Japan Sea, and adorable Japanese confectionery. Ishikawa Prefecture has many cultural tourist attractions and it’s easy to visit. It takes almost three hours to get there but trust me it’s totally worth it!
KENROKUEN
A typical garden from the Edo period. On a very large site, you can enjoy various landscapes such as cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and snow fishing. It’s an extremely relaxing place, where one can go and meditate just by looking at the view.
2. EAST CHAIA DISTRICT or HIGASHIJAYAGAI
A cityscape where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Edo period. There are many shops and cafes such as traditional Japanese sweets and miscellaneous goods. Take a step into the past and experience this old townscape full of historical charm.
3. OUMICHO MARKET
A market where one can find typical goods from the Sea of Japan. There are many products such as fresh and colourful seafood, vegetables and fruits. Once there, I recommend staying and eating out. I especially like Nodoguro: is a fat and succulent fish; it’s excellent!
